Old Consoles Are the Fun Part

NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Genesis, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, original Xbox, Game Boy and the rest of the handhelds. If it’s old and it plays games, bring it.

Most of what kills a console from this era is time, not damage. Capacitors dry out and leak on the board, and if they’ve been leaking a while they eat the traces underneath. That’s a recap and trace repair, and it’s the single most common thing we do on 90s hardware.

Disc consoles stop reading because the laser has drifted or the sled rails have gummed up. Sometimes that’s an adjustment, sometimes it’s a new optical assembly, and we’ll tell you which after we open it.

Cartridge slots that need the game blown into are just dirty pins. NES in particular has a connector that wears out and needs replacing, not cleaning.

Save batteries in SNES, N64 and Game Boy carts are all long dead by now. We replace them so the cart holds a save again.

Mods too. RGB and HDMI output, region-free chips, custom firmware, drive emulators and screen swaps in handhelds. That work is custom by nature so we talk it through and quote it in person.

Retro work is priced per job because no two of these consoles have aged the same way. We look at it first, then tell you the number. Nothing gets done until you say yes.

We’ll confirm the exact price in person before anything starts.

No Fix, No Fee

Bring it in. We’ll tell you exactly what’s wrong and what it’ll cost. No charge for that.

You approve the price before we touch anything. No surprises, no hidden fees.

If we can’t fix it, you pay nothing. We don’t think you should pay for failure.

Questions We Get

If a console isn’t worth what the repair costs, we’ll say so. That’s part of the free look and we’d rather tell you than take the job.

Nothing gets cut or drilled unless the mod you actually asked for needs it.

If it’s been sitting in a garage or a basement for twenty years, mention it. Corrosion changes what we’re looking at before we even open it.

Bring the power supply and the cables with it. Half the time the console is fine and the brick is dead.

How It Works

We’re appointment only. Call or text (775) 453-4317 and we’ll set a time that works. Yes, the number is text-able.

Bring the console in, we look at it and tell you what’s wrong and what it costs, and you get that price before anything happens.

Retro jobs take longer than modern ones. Parts for a 30 year old console are not sitting on a shelf, so we’ll be straight with you about the wait before you leave it.
